Chiedza (chee-ed-za) is an African Shona word meaning "light", such as the light of day or your inner light. The founder’s wife is from Zimbabwe, hence the naming origin. Our name Chiedza Solutions therefore means that through shedding light on problems, they can be understood and resolved. This relates to technology by being clear with our selling and repairing process, offering quality products and working to keep computers working for as long as possible. We desire to sell quality computers at accessible prices. For example, choosing to sell refurbished laptops that are built better than most consumer grade computers. This means they will last longer and cost less over time than new and cheap systems. Some of our higher end preconfigured desktop systems can cost significantly more than others. This is because the component cost is high, not because our margins increase based on cost. We make about the same amount of money from the cheapest prebuilt to the most high-end system.

We believe computers and related systems are able to greatly enhance each person’s ability to better themselves. Computers allow every one of us to seek knowledge, improve our lives and become connected to a modern world. However, computers do not come without faults. As a result, we seek to provide computer repair services at reasonable costs. This helps to allow new and old systems to continue functioning at optimal levels.

Do you fix or sell phones and tablets?

We do not, due to the lack of reliable parts available at reasonable prices to repair shops. You can get your phone screen replaced in the local mall, but that part is not up to a standard we feel comfortable using. Genuine or equal to genuine parts for phones are cost prohibitive ($380+ for newer iPhone screens). As such, we believe it is generally best to take it to Apple if it is an iPhone or a repair center that offers to fix phones.

Why do you not sell cheap new laptops? I can get a new one for $200 at Best Buy.

Because they are rubbish and will break relatively quickly. Also, if you pay attention to their specifications, you often find they perform worse for the same money as a quality refurbished laptop.

Why do you not sell cheap prebuilt desktop computers? I can get the same specs for cheaper elsewhere.

The parts we use for our systems are of a high quality compared to others. Although no parts are free from defects and issues, the ones we choose from reputable brands are known to hold up longer. Other prebuilt systems you see for sale often use low quality components and as such we are not confident in warrantying them. We also seek to provide quick and local tech support, no shipping your computer away if it has a problem or taking it to a store. We come to you and diagnose the issue, while providing a fix on the spot if able. Otherwise, we handle shipping your computer to and from our location. This service is for local customers only.

Why do you not offer shipping on your desktop computers?

Because shipping causes a lot of strain on a desktop computer and we believe it to not be worth the time and effort for the customer or us in dealing with any shipping related issues. If possible, seek out a local computer shop and support them by purchasing a computer from them or have them build it for you.

Can I sell my computer to you?

Yes, but we follow pricing based on market rates and condition of the computer. For example, if you see that your laptop can be sold for $200 on Ebay, then we will buy it for $150. For any purchases to be worthwhile, we have to buy it at a rate lower than what it can be sold for. You are welcome to sell it yourself on local marketplaces or Ebay for the full $200.

Do you accept device donations?

Yes we do. Even if a computer seems too old to be useful, we can refurbish it back to its prime condition and someone without a computer will be happy to have it.

I do not see a physical location for you, where are you?

We operate out of our private residence, hence our postal address on this website. Due to this, we come to you for repairs or device pickups, saving you time and travel to a physical location.
